Before retirement, AI-102 covered six domains: Plan and manage Azure AI solutions (20-25%), Implement generative AI solutions (15-20%), Implement agentic solutions with Semantic Kernel and AutoGen (5-10%), Implement computer vision (10-15%), Implement NLP (15-20%), and Implement knowledge mining (15-20%).

An agentic solution is an AI system that autonomously plans and executes multi-step tasks using tools, APIs, and memory. AI-102 covered building agents with Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, and Azure AI Foundry — skills that remain central on the AI-103 successor path.

AI-102 was an associate-level exam requiring Python or C# experience and familiarity with Azure AI services. It placed heavy emphasis on generative AI and agentic solutions. New candidates should prepare for AI-103 instead.

The passing score was 700 out of 1000, with approximately 100 minutes for 40-60 questions and a typical cost of $165 USD. AI-102 is retired as of June 30, 2026 — schedule AI-103 if you need a current Azure AI credential.
