What is the difference between CloudWatch Evaluation Periods and Datapoints to Alarm?

Evaluation Periods is the total window (number of data points checked). Datapoints to Alarm is how many must breach the threshold within that window to trigger. Setting both equal enforces consecutive breaches; setting Datapoints to Alarm lower allows M-of-N breaching (e.g., 3 of 5 periods).
